The US-based foundation has been funding projects in India for a decade.
It has infused close to Rs 1,000 crore in the country through grants and equity in impact enterprises across sectors such as education, livelihood, microfinance etc.
In India, foundations or trusts are not allowed to make investments if they intend to retain tax exemption status.
